Stuffed Cheesy Bread

Stuffed Cheesy Bread: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

My family loved all the cheesy goodness this bread had. And how could they not?! Homemade bread topped with cheese and stuffed with cheese.

Stuffed Cheesy Bread

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

Directions:

  1. In a glass measuring cup add water and then mix in sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top of water and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Stir in canola oil.
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer, with dough hook attached, whisk together the flour and salt.
  4. Make a well in the middle of the flour and add yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  5. Using dough hook knead dough on medium speed for about 3 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic.
  6. Shape dough into a ball.
  7. Spray mixer bowl with cooking spray and place dough ball into bowl turning once to coat.
  8. Cover bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.
  9. Place a pizza stone or an inverted baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven and preheat to 450º F.
  10. In a medium bowl combine all the cheeses, garlic powder and parsley flakes.
  11. Use a piece of parchment paper the size of baking stone or baking sheet and sprinkle with cornmeal.
  12. Divide the dough in half and roll each piece into an 8 inch square.
  13. Top on side of each square with 1/2 cup of cheese mixture. Fold the other half of each dough over the cheese and press edges light to seal.
  14. Using a sharp knife slice the dough into 8 slices, stopping just before the folded edge. Sprinkle both pieces with the remaining cheese mixture.
  15. Carefully slide the parchment paper and dough onto the pizza stone or inverted baking sheet.
  16. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  17. Let bread cool slightly before pulling apart the bread.
Enjoy!!!
