Brown Sugar Chili

This chili is a sweet chili because of the brown sugar added to it. It is a nice change of pace from a "traditional" chili or spicy chili. Plus it is easy to make and done in a crock pot

Brown Sugar Chili

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 3- 14 ounce can low sodium kidney beans, drained
  • 3- 14.5 ounce can no salt added diced tomatoes
  • 24 ounces low sodium tomato juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder

Directions:

  1. In a skillet, over medium heat, cook ground turkey and onion until turkey is cooked.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar and mustard.
  3. Add meat mixture to a crock pot. Add all of the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
  4. Cover crock pot and cook on high for 2 hours. If able to, stir several times while cooking.
Enjoy!!!
