Blackberry Maple Oatmeal

Blackberry Maple Oatmeal

I have found yet another yummy way to jazz up my oatmeal. By the time I am done trying all of the oatmeal recipes I have pinned on Pinterest added with the ones I have already tried, I am going to have a nice collection of oatmeal recipes to choose from.

Blackberry Maple Oatmeal

This recipe is definitely worth making again. Not only does it taste good, but it is super easy to prepare! So grab a spoon and dig in.

Blackberry Maple Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 4 cups fat free milk
  • 1 2/3 cups blackberries, fresh or thawed frozen
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon water

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, combine oats and milk.
  2. Bring the oatmeal to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally, and cook for 5-10 minutes, or until the oats are tender and most of the milk is absorbed.
  3. While the oatmeal is cooking gently mash blackberries so you have some whole and some pieces.
  4. In a small saucepan dissolve flour in water.
  5. Stir in maple syrup and blackberries. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Do not let it boil vigorously. Remove from heat.
  6. Divide oatmeal among 4 bowls and top with blackberry maple syrup.
Enjoy!!!
