Blackberry Maple Oatmeal
Ingredients:
- 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
- 4 cups fat free milk
- 1 2/3 cups blackberries, fresh or thawed frozen
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon water
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, combine oats and milk.
- Bring the oatmeal to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally, and cook for 5-10 minutes, or until the oats are tender and most of the milk is absorbed.
- While the oatmeal is cooking gently mash blackberries so you have some whole and some pieces.
- In a small saucepan dissolve flour in water.
- Stir in maple syrup and blackberries. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Do not let it boil vigorously. Remove from heat.
- Divide oatmeal among 4 bowls and top with blackberry maple syrup.
