Sourdough bread turned into buttery garlic bread, filled with barbecue chicken and cheese. The extra step of turning the bread into garlic bread it well worth it and makes the sandwich that much more delicious. Adding barbecue chicken to a grilled cheese makes for a more filling sandwich.
Barbecue Chicken Grilled Cheese
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups shredded chicken breasts
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 6 slices havarti cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 6 slices sourdough bread
Directions:
- In a small skillet, stir together the chicken, paprika, Worcestershire sauce and barbecue sauce. Heat over medium heat until heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
- Preheat a large non stick skillet, over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, add in the butter, garlic and parsley. Microwave until melted and stir to mix well.
- Lay the bread slices down and spread the garlic butter mixture over each piece.
- Turn the bread slices over and place 3 slices of cheese on 3 of the bread slices. Top the cheese with the barbecue chicken and place the remaining cheese on top. Place the remaining bread slices on top.
- Place the sandwiches into the preheated skillet and cook until the bottoms are browned, about 3-5 minutes. Flip the sandwiches over and cook on the other side until browned and cheese is melted, about 3-5 minutes.

Notes:
Depending on the size of your sourdough bread slices, you may not get as many sandwiches or you will need to adjust the amount of filling, cheese and garlic butter. Use the above recipe as a guide and adjust as needed.
