Pasta with Marinara Cream Sauce

Pasta with Marinara Cream Sauce: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

A simple yet delicious pasta dish. This pasta only requires a handful of ingredients, but it turns out so creamy and yummy. It makes a great meatless dish or perfect side dish. I served it as a side dish and that is how I calculated the serving size and nutritional information.

Pasta with Marinara Cream Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 30 ounces marinara sauce
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 pounds fettuccine noodles

Directions:

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and reserve 1 cup pasta water.
  2. In a large saucepan, over medium heat, melt the butter and heat the olive oil. Add in the garlic and onions and sauté for about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, black pepper, and sugar. Reduce heat to low and cook for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the heavy cream.
  5. Stir in the cheese and then the pasta. If the sauce is too thick for your taste add a little bit of reserved pasta water to thin it out.
Enjoy!!!

I used my homemade Crock Pot Marinara Sauce to help reduce the amount of sodium in this dish.
