Crock Pot Maple Brown Sugar Ham

Crock Pot Maple Brown Sugar Ham: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

During the holidays oven space is tight and that seems especially true whenever I make ham. That is why I have started cooking the ham in my crock pot. It saves oven space, is super easy and tastes delicious.

The first time I made ham in the crock pot I use the packet included with the ham. This time I threw away the packet and used a homemade glaze. The homemade is quicker than the packet that comes with the ham, no cooking required. Plus it tastes great and I know exactly what is in it.

Crock Pot Maple Brown Sugar Ham

Ingredients:

  • 7-8 pound spiral sliced ham
  • 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dry ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground clove
  • 1/2 cup real maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups pineapple juice

Directions:

  1. Remove all of the ham packing and throw away the glaze packet.
  2. In a medium bowl whisk together the sugar, mustard, cloves and maple syrup.
  3. Pour 1/4 of the glaze into the bottom of the crock pot.
  4. Place the ham cut side down in the crock pot.
  5. Pour the remaining glaze over the ham and rub it into the ham.
  6. Slowly pour the pineapple juice over top of the ham.
  7. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours.
  8. Baste the ham with the cooking liquids every couple of hours.
  9. Remove the ham, tent with foil and let rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
Enjoy!!!
