This chili is a sweet chili because of the brown sugar added to it. It is a nice change of pace from a "traditional" chili or spicy chili. Plus it is easy to make and done in a crock pot
Brown Sugar Chili
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons dijon mustard
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 3- 14 ounce can low sodium kidney beans, drained
- 3- 14.5 ounce can no salt added diced tomatoes
- 24 ounces low sodium tomato juice
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
Directions:
- In a skillet, over medium heat, cook ground turkey and onion until turkey is cooked.
- Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar and mustard.
- Add meat mixture to a crock pot. Add all of the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
- Cover crock pot and cook on high for 2 hours. If able to, stir several times while cooking.
