I love meals that use only one dish to make. Less dishes makes me very happy! This meal not only cooks in one skillet from start to finish, but it is also incredibly delicious. If you do not want the spice from the sausage, just use regular Italian sausage.
Ravioli and Italian Sausage Skillet
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casings removed
- 14.5 ounces fire roasted diced tomatoes
- 8 ounces no salt added tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon no salt added tomato paste
- 2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- black pepper, to taste
- 16 ounces cheese filled ravioli
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Directions:
- In a large oven safe skillet, over medium high heat, cook and crumble the Italian sausage, until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Drain the excess fat, keeping the sausage in the skillet.
- Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper.
- Stir in the ravioli and 1 1/2 cups water. Bring the mixture to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to a simmer and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until the ravioli is tender.
- Remove from the heat and top with mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese.
- Place the skillet in the oven under the broiler for about 2-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
