Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream

What makes strawberry ice cream ever better? Add some dark chocolate!

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

This ice cream has great strawberry flavor and the dark chocolate just adds the perfect delicious touch to it. If you do not prefer dark chocolate you can always use semi-sweet chocolate.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberry puree
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Rinse and hull some strawberries (you need enough to make 1 1/2 cups when pureed). Cut the strawberries in half and place in a blender and process until smooth and pureed. Transfer strawberry puree to a freezer safe container and freeze for 30 minutes.
  2. Place a freezer safe container for storing the ice cream in the freezer.
  3. Remove strawberry puree from the freezer and return to the blender. Add in the heavy cream, half and half and sugar. Blend until all ingredients are well mixed.
  4. Pour mixture into an ice cream machine and churn according to manufacturer's directions.
  5. While the ice cream is churning melt the chocolate chips, stir until smooth and set aside to cool a bit, but not so much it hardens.
  6. When there is 5 minutes left of the churn time, very slowly drizzle in the melted chocolate. You want to do this very slowly because the chocolate will harden as soon as it hit the ice cream and you do not want big chunks.
  7. When the ice cream is done churning, remove the container from the freezer and transfer ice cream into it. Cover and freeze.
Enjoy!!!
