Easy Authentic Pizza Sauce

I have tried numerous pizza sauce recipes over the years and this one is by far the best one I have tried. It is now my go to pizza sauce recipe.

It does have a subtle kick to it, but you can always reduce the amount if you do not want as much spice to it. This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator  for 3 weeks, or you can freeze it.

Easy Authentic Pizza Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons olive oil
  • 4 gloves garlic, minced
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 5 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2-8 ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2/3 cup warm water
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat add the olive oil and heat it up.
  2. Add the garlic and stir it around a few times then quickly add onion powder, red pepper, basil and oregano. Stir a few times and add in the parmesan cheese, brown sugar and then quickly add the tomato sauce, tomato paste and warm water.
  3. Stir to combine and then bring to a light boil. Turn heat down to low, add black pepper and simmer for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Enjoy!!!
